Privacy annex — Pawseo
This annex explains what Pawseo does differently from the common privacy policy for PekeGames apps. That policy applies to everything else.
Pawseo is a game for walking your real dog with a virtual pet. This annex explains what Pawseo does differently from the common policy: it uses your phone's location and pedometer to measure the walk, and the camera to see your pet in augmented reality. Almost everything stays on your phone.
1. What stays on your phone
This data is never sent to PekeGames or anyone else:
- Your precise location (GPS):
- During the walk, it is used to measure the distance, draw the map and place the sniff spots, the golden bone and the leaf piles in safe places (parks, squares and paths, away from streets with cars).
- If you allow location "Always", the walk keeps being measured with the screen off. Only during a walk.
- Your steps: read from the phone's pedometer (motion sensor) to count the walk and check that it was done on foot and not by car.
- The routes:
- The track and map of each walk, so you can see where you went together.
- They are deleted from the Profile, in "Delete routes".
- What the map stores:
- The areas you have explored and your last position, to open the map where you were.
- The map tiles, for 30 days.
- Your in-game name, your weight and whether you are a minor:
- Weight is optional and only used to calculate calories.
- "I'm a minor" hides calories.
- Photos:
- The ones you take with your pet are only saved to your camera roll when you ask. The permission is only to add photos, not to see them.
- Temporary selfie photos are deleted after 24 hours.
- If you share a photo, you do it with the system share sheet.
- The camera:
- Images are processed on the phone to place your pet in your surroundings (augmented reality) and are not stored.
- The selfie with your pet uses the front camera with Apple's face tracking (ARKit). Pawseo does not read, store or send the shape of your face.
- Your dog's voice: uses the phone's speech synthesis. Pawseo does not use the microphone.
If you back up your phone (iCloud or Google), backups may include this app data.
2. What is sent and to whom
a) PekeGames (if "Save to PekeGames" is on)
The first time you open Pawseo we let you know and you can choose not to save. You can change it at any time in the Profile.
- Guest session: you play without an account, with a random identifier created on your phone and stored in its keychain. It is not a device or advertising identifier. We use it to save your progress.
- Backup of your progress, so you don't lose your pet if you change phones or delete the app:
- your pet and your dog (the dog's name, breed, size, age and weight);
- the collection, missions and points;
- the walk history: start date and time, distance, duration, steps and pace of each walk.
- What it does not include: your name, your weight, the minor flag, where you walk, your routes or your position.
- Achievements: only the progress (for example, "20 km walked").
- Scored walks: for each walk, the valid metres (on foot, no car) and whether it was an active day, for the weekly friends leaderboard. No position.
- Account (optional, only from age 16):
- You sign in from the Profile with Apple or Google, on the PekeGames website, as explained in the common policy.
- With an account you can add friends and see the weekly friends leaderboard. There they see your nickname, your avatar and your metres for the week.
- Map settings: when you open it, the app asks PekeGames which map service to use. It sends none of your data; the server sees the IP address, as with any connection.
b) OpenFreeMap (maps)
- What it is: the map and the safe places are drawn with OpenStreetMap data downloaded from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org).
- What the server sees: which map squares, about 2 × 2 km, are requested around you, the IP address and the Pawseo version. It does not get your exact position.
- How long it is kept: each square is stored on the phone for 30 days, so in your neighbourhood it is almost never requested again.
- Its policy: OpenFreeMap has its own.
c) Apple (purchases)
- Clothes for your pet are bought through the App Store.
- The purchase is checked on the phone; Pawseo does not send the receipt to PekeGames.
- The purchased item goes into your collection, which is part of your progress backup.
- Payment data is handled by Apple.
3. What Pawseo does not have
It has no ads, no push notifications, no usage statistics, and no analytics or tracking tools from other companies. It does not use the advertising identifier or the microphone, and it does not read your contacts or your photos.
4. How to delete your data
- At PekeGames:
- Profile → "Delete my PekeGames data" (as a guest) or "Delete my PekeGames account" (with an account).
- It deletes the backup, achievements, scored walks and the guest from the server, and stops saving.
- The routes: Profile → "Delete routes".
- Everything on the phone: uninstall the app.
- By email: write to privacidad@pekegames.app.
5. Minors
What the common policy says applies:
- Accounts are only for people aged 16 and over.
- Below that, you play as a guest, with no name or email.
- With minors there are no ads, no profiling and no behavioural statistics.
Pawseo has no chat or content from other players: the friends leaderboard only shows nicknames, avatars and metres.
