Job Capítulo 35
The question" Why do innocent people suffer?" Is addressed in this biblical story.
A Conservative Version
35 : 1 Moreover Elihu answered, and said,
35 : 2 What is this thou think in judgment? Who are thou that thou said, I am righteousness before the Lord?
35 : 3 That thou said, What advantage will it be to thee? And, What profit shall I have more than if I had sinned?
35 : 4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
35 : 5 Look to the heavens, and see. And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
35 : 6 If thou have sinned, what do thou effect against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what do thou to him?
35 : 7 If thou be righteous, what do thou give him? Or what does he receive of thy hand?
35 : 8 Thy wickedness is a man as thou are, and thy righteousness is a son of man.
35 : 9 Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
35 : 10 But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night,
35 : 11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?
35 : 12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.
35 : 13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, nor will the Almighty regard it.
35 : 14 How much less when thou say thou do not behold him. The case is before him, and thou wait for him!
35 : 15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, nor does he greatly regard folly,
35 : 16 so Job opens his mouth in vanity. He multiplies words without knowledge.
